A SHORT HISTORY OF THE FORMULA INDY RACING ASSOCIATION:
FIRA was started in the mid 70s as The Midwest Mini Champ Racing Assoc. With The intent of racing an affordable racecar with a scaled down Indy car style . The cars weight about 600 lb. and are powered by 600cc two cycle Snowmobile and 750cc four cycle Motorcycle Engines. These cars produce Fast, Exciting racing on 1/4 and 1/2 mile oval tracks in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
The mechanical skills required along with Driver ability is equal to any type of oval Track racing. The low comparative cost and club atmosphere allows for a competitive and rewarding racing experience.
While we aren’t as popular as Indy Car racing we do draw some crowds to our events. The drivers are all good at what they do and it’s quite an exciting experience for fans of all ages.
I know there is a tendency for the big races to offer betting on their events, but ours are too small for any of that. If you want to gamble then try the NFL where you’ll find 500 Super Bowl props to bet on for any little thing concerning the game.
